Team Leader Biosecurity

About the role
In this busy and diverse role, your action oriented approach and focus on quality will be a real asset.
You will:
- Lead, motivate and manage a small team of biodiversity rangers to implement pest plant and pest animal control
- Provide guidance and maintain oversight of monitoring and auditing programmes for pest plants and pest animals.
- Prepare, plant and maintain revegetation areas.
- Work collaboratively with community groups, and Greater Wellington Regional Council to align programmes of work
- Work alongside our Parks Volunteer Advisor to develop and implement a programme to meet training needs of volunteers undertaking plant and animal pest control.
- Provide friendly, positive and professional customer service excellence at all times.
- Bring a strong knowledge of health & safety requirements and risk management to your work
About you
This role offers a diverse range of daily activities and will keep you on your toes.
You’ll need to show us that you have:
- A qualification in Ecology, Conservation, Biodiversity, Biosecurity or land management or equivalent experience.
- Recent experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practice in pest, plant and pest animal control.
- Proven effective leadership experience.
- Experience in safely and efficiently operating small plant and machinery.
- Experience with dealing with customers/members of the public
- Good interpersonal skills combined with great written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding and commitment to health and safety in the workplace
- Understanding and commitment to diverse workplaces
- The ability to meet the physical demands of the role
- A NZ unrestricted Full drivers’ licence
- A Growsafe Certification
- A current first aid qualification
