All about the job

You will be part of the team that maintains and develops the gardens throughout Porirua City. This role will have you working throughout the city’s open spaces, ornamental parks and street gardens.

You will be responsible for:

  • maintaining planting and garden areas to a high standard
  • assisting with annual bedding changeovers
  • maintaining the gardens and shrubbery in parks around our city

Porirua City is a living wage accredited employer and the starting hourly rate for this is from $27.83.

All about you

It would be fabulous if you have a passion for horticulture and have completed study to attain level 4 Trade Certification /or have on the job experience.

You’ll need to show us that you:

  • have experience and interest in planting and maintaining ornamental gardens, this could be at entry level or a more experienced level
  • have a clean driver’s licence (class 2 licence would be a bonus)
  • have a growsafe qualification, or similar
  • are self-motivated and able to work well as part of a team
  • have knowledge of health and safety practices relevant to the job
