Team Leader Tracks & Coastal Rangers

About the role
Porirua City has an abundance of walkways, tracks, mountain bike trails and green spaces right on our doorstep. You lead the team that maintains these spaces which includes vegetation control and maintenance of structures, e.g. timber steps, handrails, drainage channels and track surfaces.
You will:
- Lead, motivate and manage a small team of Rangers to carry out the maintenance of our tracks across Porirua
- To implement the plans, schedule and maintenance cycles for tracks and walkways throughout the city
- Prepare, plant and maintain revegetation areas.
- Work collaboratively with community groups to align programmes of work
- Provide friendly, positive and professional customer service excellence at all times.
- Bring a strong knowledge of health & safety requirements and risk management to your work

This role offers a diverse range of daily activities and will keep you on your toes. It would be fabulous if you are experience in motivating others, and have a passion for the outdoors.
You’ll need to show us that you have:
- Proven effective leadership experience.
- A level 4 amenity horticulture qualification or similar
- Practical experience in amenity horticulture or similar field of work
- Experience with dealing with customers/members of the public
- Good interpersonal skills combined with great written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding and commitment to health and safety in the workplace
- The ability to meet the physical demands of the role
- A NZ unrestricted class 2 drivers’ licence
