Team Leader - Sports Fields

 About the role
We are looking for a dedicated and committed Team Leader to oversee our dedicated sports fields team. In this role, you will be a specialist in sports field turf management, showcasing your skills in maintaining top-notch playing surfaces for the community. You will lead a passionate team to create and maintain great outdoor playing areas across the city.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • leading, working with and providing daily supervision for the Sports Fields team
  • assisting the Manager Turf with performance reviews and setting objectives for the team
  • working with the Senior Sports Fields Specialist, Porirua Park.
  • delivering a comprehensive maintenance  and care program for sports field turf, including fertilising, irrigating, weed, and pest control.
  • ensuring the team meets all Service Level Agreements.
  • working with sports stakeholders to meet requirements for game days, fixtures, training, and events.

About you

You are ideally working towards or already hold a Level 4 Turf Management qualification and have a strong passion for Porirua City sports.

You’ll need to show us that you have:

  • experience leading and supervising a team.
  • a minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Turf Management or a similar field.
  • at least 3 years of experience in sports turf management, including both natural and synthetic surface management.
  • the ability to supervise staff to ensure maintenance schedules are carried out effectively.
  • excellent customer service and relationship management skills.
  • an unrestricted Class 2 driver's license, or a willingness to obtain one.
  • the ability to meet the physical demands of the role.
