Swim Instructor / Kaiako Kauhoe
Dash Swim School are looking for enthusiastic and committed people to join our team of Swim Instructors. We will provide you with all the training required, you’ll just need to bring a can-do-attitude and be prepared to be in the water to teach our Tamariki swimming skills.
This part-time position (21.25 hours per week) offers flexibility to work around your life. The hours of work will vary from term time to school holidays.
The hours of work for this position are:
- Wednesday 9:15pm – 5:30pm (7 hours, 45 mins)
- Thursday 9:15am – 2:30pm (3.5 hours, actual hours vary each fortnight)
- Friday 10:45am – 5:30pm (6 hours)
- Saturday 8:00am – 12:00pm (4 hours)
You will need to be able to commit to working all of the shifts above.
All about the job
Our Swim School Philosophy is simple; first we teach you to survive in the water, then we teach you to swim. As a Dash Swim Instructor you will help teach our future generation about Water Safety and Swimming. You will be responsible for:
- Instructing learn to swim lessons in the pool, with up to 6 children per class
- Instructing school lessons with up to 10 children per class
- Ensuring children are safe during the lessons
- Teaching specific water safety lessons
- Providing excellent customer service and providing effective communication to care-givers regarding the child’s progression.
We will provide all the training you need to do this role. You will become first aid qualified which provides 4 NCEA credits. You’ll also have the opportunity to complete a NZ Certificate in Aquatics Level 3 (40 credits), and Level 4 (120 credits).

You will need to be positive and energetic and be confident in the water. Enthusiasm for working with children is required and we offer full training and qualifications to all Dash Instructors. You’ll need to show us that you:
- are confident working with children
- have a calm and engaging manner with children
- have a ‘can-do’ attitude towards customer service
- can deliver structured lessons and motivate each child to create an effective learning environment
