Senior RMA Monitoring and Enforcement Officer

About the role

As a senior member of our Monitoring & Enforcement team, you’ll:

  • monitor compliance with resource consent conditions, carrying out inspections and investigations
  • provide clear, legally sound advice under the Resource Management Act (RMA) and other relevant legislation
  • investigate complaints, gather evidence, and take appropriate enforcement action where non-compliance occurs
  • lead proactive education initiatives, working with builders, developers, and landowners to improve compliance and environmental outcomes
  • mentor and support team members, sharing your expertise and best practice approach
  • collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to find practical, constructive solutions to complex compliance issues

All about you

You’re a confident operator who understands the complexities of compliance and enforcement in a local government setting.

You’ll need to show us that you have:

  • in-depth knowledge of the RMA and related legislation
  • strong technical expertise in monitoring, compliance, and enforcement
  • experience balancing proactive education with robust enforcement action
  • excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, educate, and guide diverse stakeholders
  • a collaborative mindset, with the ability to mentor others and work across teams
  • a full unrestricted New Zealand driver’s licence
