RMA Monitoring and Enforcement Officer

Are you passionate about influencing sustainable development within Porirua City through applying the provisions of the Resource Management Act? This role sits in our Resource Consents & Monitoring Team which have scope to accommodate, develop and reward your level of expertise. These roles are more than processing and enforcement, we are looking for people who have a positive approach to engaging with stakeholders.

You will need to show us that you:

  • have a working knowledge of the Resource Management Act and relevant legislation and by-laws
  • ideally have experience working in roles involving monitoring and enforcement activities  
  • enjoy the challenge of managing and resolving customer complaints while bringing a customer focus to the heart of everything you do
  • have a passion for creating sustainable solutions and building positive working relationships
  • have a full unrestricted New Zealand driver’s licence
  • have the ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, to carry out onsite investigations

You will be doing things such as:

  • physically monitoring compliance with resource consent conditions, including conducting routine and random inspections onsite
  • building relationships with local sub-contractors and builders and taking a proactive approach to improve silt and sediment controls
  • scope and design education programs to proactively engage with our development/building community
  • respond to land use complaints and take appropriate action where necessary
  • gathering evidence to enable enforcement action to be taken under the Resource Management Act
