About the role

We’re on the lookout for a Resource Planner Parks to help us manage Porirua’s reserve land and plan its future

No two days are the same in this role!  The role demands a quick thinker with a long-term view, and a knack for building relationships. You will work closely with, and develop relationships with, a wide range of stakeholders and community members, underpinned by an authentic commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.

You’ll bring knowledge of local government processes, legislation, council policy, and those ever-important relationships, to sustainably manage our existing parks and reserves, and seek opportunities to expand the public open space network as the city grows, with the community’s needs at the forefront.

About you

You are resilient, energetic, and you love both the details and the big picture. You are commercially savvy, politically aware, and possess sound judgement,

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • Experience in resource planning, reserve management, and local government processes
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation (or the ability to learn quickly)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A collaborative, solutions-focused mindset
  • Ability to develop relationships and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders
  • A passion for protecting and enhancing public open spaces
