Principal Building Assurance Officer

As our Principal Building Assurance Officer, you will be required to:

  • help lead an effective and engaged team who deliver high quality Building Assurance services
  • provide technical expertise and advice on matters relating to the Building Act 2004, New Zealand Building Code and other associated regulations
  • investigate and provide input into any building related claims and disputes against council
  • manage the more complex building related applications
  • problem solve and effectively manage complex complaints in a customer focused approach
  • oversee the quality and consistency of technical decisions
  • contribute to developing and maintaining a technically capable team through mentoring and developing others.

All about you

You will be extremely adept at working on complex building related applications and queries. You’ll be energetic and organised with an analytical mind; your interpersonal skills will influence and engage others.

You’ll need to show us that you:

  • have a proven high level of technical building knowledge and significant work experience in building control
  • have extensive knowledge and application of the Building Act 2004, New Zealand Building Code and associated regulations
  • have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to foster effective working relationships
  • have experience mentoring and coaching others on a technical level and bring a positive approach to developing others
  • are resilient with the ability to operate successfully and professionally in a high-pressure environment.
