All about the job

We are looking for a hardworking and dedicated person to be an active member of our team. As a Lifeguard you are responsible for:

  • the competent and professional supervision of our pools
  • ensuring health and safety standards and procedures are followed
  • completing water quality checks
  • maintaining outstanding presentation of our facilities
  • contributing to ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction

You might be looking for a rewarding job that will work around your life. We have part time hours available, and are looking for someone who can commit to all or some of these shifts.

The current shifts available are:

  • Friday 5:00pm to 9:30pm
  • Saturday 1:00pm to 7:30pm

More hours may be available by mutual agreement. The operating hours of the Aquatic Centre are between 5:00am and 9:30pm weekdays and 7:00am to 7:30pm in the weekends.

We will train and upskill you to attain a First Aid Certification and a National Lifeguard Award. The training may require you to attend 2 days of full-time training, timing of this will be discussed at interview.

You will need to show us that you:

  • can swim competently and can maintain a required level of swimming fitness
  • communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of people,
  • have the ability to be calm in pressured situations and respond quickly following standard procedures
  • are reliable, punctual and practical
  • are passionate about creating a fabulous customer experience for our community.

If you are invited to an interview, you will be asked to complete a swim test which includes the following requirements:

  1. 200m swim in 6 minutes
  2. 50m Breast stroke swim
  3. 25m side stroke swim
  4. 5 minutes treading water
  5. Retrieving an item from the deepest part of the pool (2m)

Due to the age requirements of the National Lifeguard Award, applications will only be considered from people aged 16 years of age or older.

As this is a safety sensitive role, all successful applicants will complete a pre-employment drug test.
